Although there are lots of places in our area where you can grab a quick cup of coffee, there aren’t many REALLY good coffee. Recently I discovered a terrific one in Red Bank. It’s called the Coffee Corral roastery and coffee shop and it’s located on Dr. James Parker Boulevard near the corner of Shrewsbury Avenue.
If you know coffee and/or espresso, you’re going to appreciate the things that make the Coffee Corral different. Are you interested in small batch roasting, right on the premises? Do you enjoy single origin coffee and not just coffee bean blends? Do you want an espresso made by a real barista who knows how to adjust the grind to get the best crema? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you should pay a visit to the Coffee Corral. I love their wonderful La Marzotco espresso machine, and you should take a look at their impressive Diedrich roaster.
They also make cappuccino, frappocino and smoothies but where they excel is making coffee/espresso. If you know your coffee/espresso, you know it’s not so simple to make a great cup. You can’t cover up the taste with milk or flavorings, and you have to do everything just right. If you’re not a coffee aficionado, the folks at Coffee Corral are experts who’d love to teach you the finer points. And if you’re looking for a bite to have with your coffee, they have wonderful pastries from two different Brooklyn bakeries.
It’s a treat to visit and just look around. I’ve taken a few photos to give you a feel of the place, but if you’d like to see more, click on this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/flickr4jazz/sets/72157629440223962/
