Last fall, Fair Haven Mayor Ben Lucarelli introduced the idea of affixing cautionary “Slow Down” stickers to garbage and recycling bins to remind drivers to observe the posted speed limits on our residential streets. I’ve been noticing more and more of them lately, and I think they’re a great idea.
On days when the garbage bins are at the curb, you’ll see one gray bin after another, all lined up as if in formation. When you see one with the cautionary sticker it really catches your eye, and it’s a terrific reminder to watch out for kids playing or folks walking their dogs. I really like seeing them on Kemp Avenue, where the posted speed limit is 20 mph.
The stickers are about 9” x 12” and come with several different messages. They’re available at the Fair Haven borough hall for $3 each or 2/$5.
