It was a great day not just for the Irish, but for all the marchers and spectators at today’s 2014 Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year’s parade, just the 2nd one ever, lasted for nearly 90 minutes. Led by a color guard and Grand Marshall General Pete Dawkins, we had lots of pipes & drums, other bands, Irish dancers, floats, military veterans, fire departments, the RFH Bulldogs track & field team, the Rumson EMS, an equestrian unit, floats and marchers representing many local groups and businesses.
Lots of enthusiastic spectators lined the parade route from Victory Park to Piping Rock Park. It was heartwarming to see and hear everyone clapping when the color guard, Pete Dawkins, Vietnam War veterans and other military personnel marched past. You didn’t have to be a kid to enjoy the green balloons distributed by the Rumson office of Diane Turton Realtors, or the green necklaces and candy thrown from several of the floats. Here are some photos for you to enjoy.
